FCRCC MISSION STATEMENT:

Our primary focus at FCRCC is to provide a safe learning environment for all aspects of RC Aero-modeling, for members to share experiences and to promote the highest levels of safety for all aero-modeling activities.  Preservation for our Hobby and flying site are a primary focus of the club and its members, to provide a unique, community based environment.   If you're interested, but hesitant, we want to help welcome you into a hobby that provides a great technical learning experience, oh yes, and of course... lots of FUN too!

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

I want to personally extend an invitation to anyone who is interested in Model Aviation to come down during one of our open sessions or when the gate is open. This is a trying time for our hobby with the reauthorization of the FAA and "Hot Button" issues such as "Drones" influencing our Country's decision makers.  Though luckily, the House and Senate versions of the 2016 FAA reauthorization have stalled somewhat and our "Special Rule for Model Aircraft" is preserved until July of 2017, we have a long way to go in voicing our concerns to Congress to continue the preservation of our hobby.  At FCRCC we want to demonstrate not only through our members, but the entire community, that we promote a safe and controlled learning environment for all aspects of Model Aviation, from Electric, Nitro & Gas powered fixed wing aircraft and helis, to multirotor and guidance assisted aircraft.  Our goal is to be a diverse group that does not focus on just one aspect of the hobby, but embrace the entire gamut of technology the hobby offers, old and new.  I am honored to be a part of the group that has developed over the past few years that makes up FCRCC, and will do my best to preserve our hobby, our club and our community in the process.

-Ted Toothaker, FCRCC President, 2016

GENERAL INFORMATION AND FLYING!

OUR CLUB IS A 7 DAY A WEEK CLUB IF YOU ARE A MEMBER. This means that if you are a paying member, you can fly at our club every day of the week.

Typically, we are open to the public on Tuesday Evenings starting at roughly 5-5:30pm and on Sundays from 11am to 3pm (longer if it's nice!). This is of course weather dependent. Again, Members are allowed to fly anytime. However, no one is allowed to fly during Franklin County Technical High School's Football Games or other sporting events at the fields adjacent to ours. Their schedule is posted at the top and over to the left under "FCTC Schedule". Also, as a courtesy, especially if you are going to fly alone in the mornings or early afternoon hours, please check to make sure that the fields at Franklin Tech are not being occupied by a large group and be mindful of noise while school is in session. Otherwise, we really don't have any noise restrictions.

WE HAVE TRAINERS AND BUDDY BOX SYSTEMS set up so that if you want to try flying, you can do so with one of our trained members.

We encourage the public to come and check out our planes and the hobby! If you fly but are not a club member please feel free to come down to visit and you can fly as a guest during our open to public hours listed above.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  1. There ARE bathroom facilities at our location.
  2. If you are not a Member, PLEASE do not go to our field outside of the hours listed above. Since it is TF Airport Property, the Airport Manager may ask you to leave and has the right to remove you from the property without proper ID. We can have guests during our open flying hours or if you go outside of those hours with a Properly Badged Member.
  3. FOR ALL MEMBERS AND NON MEMBERS: In order to keep our privilege to fly at the Turners Falls Airport, we must use common sense. SAFETY! SAFETY! SAFETY! Please do not fly during Sporting Events where the fields are occupied by groups of people. If any complaints (noise, etc...) are received for flying while the Tech School is in session, we will address the problem promptly. We know that some members enjoy flying in the morning when the wind is calm during ideal conditions and members are entitled to do so with common sense and safety as top priorities. Please do your part to help keep the club alive, use your noggin!
  4. If anyone has any questions, comments or concerns, please go to the "Contact Us" page from the tab at the top.
